Favorite Birth-PK classroom
websites:

I choose Ms. Carrie’s
website because it had personal information about the teacher, a calendar of events,
information about what they were doing in class, pictures of each class (that
was only accessible through password for confidentiality), helpful links and
other helpful information. I also choose this website because it was kept up to
day. I found that many teacher websites were started at the beginning of the
year, but not kept up to date.
I choose Ms. Jean’s
preschool classroom website for many of the same reasons. An added feature that
Ms. Jean’s website had was pictures of parent child activity days. To me this
shows how Ms. Jean has built many relationships with the families of the
children in her classroom. She also had family night forms explaining the
upcoming family night activities.

For a K-3 classroom website
I choose the primary pod website for kindergarten and 1st grade at a
school in my local town. As I searched for classroom websites I realized that
many of the schools in my local town did not have individual classroom
websites. The Woods Learning Center primary pod website had summaries of what
they had been learning, important dates to remember and a peek of what was
coming up the next week in the classroom.
For my second K-3 classroom
website I choose a second grade classroom at a school where I previously taught
kindergarten. I choose this website because she listed homework activities,
websites to help students, information about what they were studying, and
specific information about the programs she uses in her classroom.
Hello Jennifer, thanks for sharing your Blog. From looking at the websites seems like great information to teach teachers ideas and strategies on classroom arrangement, structure, activities, and organization. Especially the website of Ms. Carrie as she kept up all the information about what they were doing in class, pictures of each class (that was only accessible through password for confidentiality), helpful links and other helpful information. Keeping up a website would definitely foster a good strategy for classroom management.
ReplyDeleteMarshield,
DeleteThanks for your response. I wish my current place of employment would allow me to have a website for my classroom, but they only want a general website and not classroom specific.
Wow! Ms. Carrie's page is extremely organized. I like the sites you chose to share with us, I agree they are good resources for ideas in the classroom and also for ideas on how to use the internet with families we serve. Some of them use it as newsletters and I like that for families that have access to the web. I know a teacher that makes a page for each child through a photo site called shutterfly. She does a class one also and the pictures are private only for the parents to see. She shared with us that many of the families take over the site when the child leaves the center. The families that I currently serve do not have access to computers, the library isn't even available to them.

Susan,
DeleteThanks for your response. I know some families don't have access to computers and this can be a challenge. At the preschool level not having access to computers doesn't have as much as an effect as when the student is at the elementary, middle, and high school level. What strategies do you use to help support families that don't have computer access?
Ms. Carrie's website is very well organized!! People who are not well knowledge on computers could find everything on this website. Its nice to know that the pictures of her students are protected and not just anybody can have access to them. Thank you for sharing these wonderful websites!!
ReplyDeleteJennifer,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the resources that you provided. I really like the comment that you made about the sites being up to date. I realized that was a huge problem too! Not many teachers were keeping their websites up to date. I think with a resource like this you must keep your information updated. I had the same problem, as well.
